Stumbling Blocks

Stumbling Blocks are metal stones engraved with the names of Jewish, Sinti, and Romany families, and disabled citizens who were deported by the German National Socialists before and during World War II. The blocks are set into the pavement in front of the homes where these people used to live before they were killed. The German artist Gunter Demnig set hundreds of stumbling blocks in cities all over Europe to memorialize their lives. Unfortunately, people of today walk over these blocks without realizing what they have to tell us. I focused on these stumbling blocks so people see and remember, Never Again.
