Tranquility
◄ ► Tranquility the End • Michele Lea |
This quilt is very personal for me in that I am constantly searching for peace and tranquility. Trying to find a place of light, rather than focusing on the cloud of darkness that looms over me, is a daily ritual. I suffer from chronic mental depression, which is a disease with no cure. More than 40 million people suffer from it and suicide is an ongoing threat for those of us who want to escape. The image of me floating, with butterflies draping over me as a blanket, is tranquility. For me it is an end to torment — a place of safety and peace, my original home where I would join my creator and become whole again. |
