Color is everything. I am passionate about my unique and recognizable contemporary art quilts that use color, fabric and the traditions of quilt making to explore the prairies of Illinois where I grew up, the rolling hills of western Massachusetts where I now live and landscapes of my imagination. I constantly work with images of dawn and horizons--those places which hold so many possibilities. In my newer pieces I have been juxtaposing blocks of very thin strips of pieced fabric against the wedges that I am known for. I am fascinated with the colors and textures I can create using such tiny strips of fabric.
For the past thirty years I have been supporting myself making contemporary art quilts and decorative accessories. My work is in numerous public and private collections including the American Museum of Art + Design, Surdna Foundation in New York City, The Lodge at Turning Stone and the Federal District Courthouse in Springfield, MA. In 2006 I received an Award of Excellence from the American Craft Council at the Baltimore Craft Show. I have also received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Massachusetts Artist Foundation. In 2011 as a result of Tropical Storm Irene, I lost my beloved studio and was forced to relocate across the river.
