My background in journalism graphics influences how I work. I pay a lot of attention to composition, contrast and color.
As a fiber artist, I work primarily with cotton, silk and wool, but I will use any fiber, including paper, to achieve the best effect. I stain, paint, screen and stamp the surfaces, adding stitching before and after.
I find most ideas and inspiration in my environment. My favorite subjects are poppies, ginkgo and aspen trees, sky, water, family and friends. The work often begins with photography and then morphs or slides into what might be called fabric collages by some and art quilts by others.
